Portablity

If you are interested in moving into the San Bernardino County, and you are currently a voucher participant, please read the following information:

Effective August 1, 2010 HACSB has implemented work requirements under our Local Policies for Portability for all new incoming portability tenants. This change is detailed in the attached Portability Fact Sheet. If you have additional questions please contact the AIB unit.

Many innovative changes have been developed at the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino to streamline the attainment of program goals and provide more efficient service and support to our participants. New portability procedures have been developed to enhance the efficiency of the portability department of our program. On January 1, 2003 we centralized our incoming portability department by combining it with our Application Intake and Briefing Unit (AIB).

672 S. Waterman Ave.
San Bernardino, CA 92408
Phone: (909) 890-9533

All incoming portability documentation for participant's who are porting into our jurisdiction is to be faxed or mailed to the attention of the AIB Unit at the address listed above.

Also, in an effort to prevent drug-related and other criminal activity, as well as other patterns of behavior that pose a threat to the health, safety, or right to peaceful enjoyment of the premises by other residents, the Housing Authority will, to the best of its ability, screen applicants/participants as thoroughly and fairly as possible for such activity and will strongly encourage potential landlords to do the same. The Housing Authority is required to screen participants for Megan's Law only and does not screen assisted families as to their suitability as tenants.

If you have already located a unit in our jurisdiction, please review the payment standards for our agency. Some of the other housing authority's payment standards may be different than ours.
